Fundraising support needed to get Shayne Allen a new bike for the 2016 Rio Paralympics

Today we we heard from Shane Allen and his pilot Dan Cleary  about their goal to win a medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. Shayne has inherited a tandem bike that is now some 30 years old and is in need of replacement if he is to achieve his dream. The bike is too heavy and in need of constant repair, so Shayne’s aim is to raise funds to replace it. He needs to raise $10,000 so he can purchase a state of the art competition tandem cycle, that will hopefully take him to the 2016 Rio Paralympics and beyond.

Avanti Plus Pushy Galore and The Rotary Club of Gosford West have got behind Shayne and Dan to raise the funds need to achieve their goals. If you would like to help put the Central Coast Community on the map when they win in Rio please contact Gosford West Rotary.  Shayne Allen at Gosford West Rotary Club on 17 July 2014

Shayne Allen is a cyclist – but not your ordinary cyclist!

We have a very interesting speaker coming to our meeting this Thursday 12:30 at Gosford West RSL club.

Shayne Allen is a cyclist – but not your ordinary cyclist.  Shayne has a dream of cycling around Australia, but, as he puts it there is one catch – he’s blind.

Not that this has been an obstacle – in 1996 he was the first disabled athlete to represent in able-bodied competition at the Pacific School Games, and he has represented Australia in the 2000 Paralympics in discus and shot put.
